In vitro gene expression within membrane-free coacervate protocells.
Cell-free gene expression of a fluorescent protein (mCherry) is demonstrated within the molecularly crowded matrix of a polysaccharide/polypeptide coacervate.
متن کاملNon-equilibrium behaviour in coacervate-based protocells under electric-field-induced excitation
Although numerous strategies are now available to generate rudimentary forms of synthetic cell-like entities, minimal progress has been made in the sustained excitation of artificial protocells under non-equilibrium conditions. Here we demonstrate that the electric field energization of coacervate microdroplets comprising polylysine and short single strands of DNA generates membrane-free protoc...
متن کاملSynthesis and catalytic activity of histidine-based NHC ruthenium complexes.
Main-chain C,N-protected histidine has been successfully alkylated at both side-chain nitrogens. The corresponding histidinium salt was metallated with ruthenium(II) by a transmetalation procedure, thus providing histidine-derived NHC ruthenium complexes. These bio-inspired complexes show appreciable activity in the catalytic transfer hydrogenation of ketones.
متن کاملPhotoluminescent multilayer film based on polyoxometalate and tris(2,2-bipyridine)ruthenium
A photoluminescent multilayer film based on Keggin-type polyoxometalate PMo12O40 3 (PMo12) and transition metal complex tris(2,2-bipyridine) ruthenium [Ru(bpy)3] 2+ (Ru(bpy)) was prepared by using layer-by-layer assembly(LBL). The formation of multilayer film was monitored by ultraviolet absorption spectra. The absorption intensity of characteristic peaks increase with a four-layer cycle, indic...
